About Inner Wheel
About Inner Wheel
Inner Wheel is one of the world’s largest voluntary women’s service organisations, boasting a membership of over 115,000 across 100 countries. It was established on 10 January 1924 in Manchester, UK, by Margarette Golding and a small group of women who shared a unified vision of friendship and service.
Organisational Structure
The global framework of Inner Wheel is built from the ground up:
Inner Wheel Club: The fundamental unit, formed by 10 or more members.
District: A regional governing body formed by four or more Clubs.
National Governing Body: Formed by two or more Districts within a region or country.
International Inner Wheel: The overarching international governing body, which acts as the secretariat from its headquarters in Altrincham, United Kingdom.
All registered Inner Wheel bodies are universally recognised by a common emblem:
Values and Global Impact
Inner Wheel membership is strictly bound by an International Constitution. The organisation upholds its shared vision through international understanding and maintains a proud ethos of being entirely non-sectarian, non-party political, and free from external affiliations.
In their pursuit of service and friendship, members are motivated by an annual international theme. Furthermore, as a registered Observer on the United Nations’ ECOSOC with consultative status, members are actively driven to champion UN causes and advocate for vulnerable groups in alignment with Inner Wheel’s core vision and objectives.
